DC Dance Families!!
This is Pam, the Artistic Director and Choreographer of Dance Therapy. I’m happy to share 2 exciting opportunities, one of which is exclusively for DC families !
dancing at cherry fest!!
We are holding a special opportunity this year (also on INFO page):
Watch Dance Therapy perform Sat, 6/7/25, at Downtown San Leandro's Cherry Festival, community stage (see map, INFO page), approximately 1245-145p. To celebrate our 15th anniversary of dancing and performing with DC Dance Center, we are inviting the audience to dance with us for our 2nd number. Don't miss out! Participate from the audience or be chosen to dance on stage! Stage volunteers to receive 2 free classes (new students only). Check INFO page for updates. Arrive early to find parking and the stage. Below is information regarding volunteers for the stage performance that we are sharing with DC Dance Families only :) ! If not interested in dancing on stage, skip to DC Fam Promotion.
Our 2nd number will be easy and repetitive. We will have performers dancing and moving about the middle of the stage. We will have 2 stationary “leaders” dancing on each side of the stage whom the audience will follow.
We will select 2 volunteers from the audience to pair with each leader, one on stage right and the other on stage left.
What does the volunteer do? Golden Rule: Follow your leader👍
- Follow leader the entire time.
- Stay with leader on side of stage. Avoid middle for safety.
- Near end, freestyle with leader. (spotlight moment!)
- Then, follow leader to front of stage (last chorus).
- When leader bows, you bow. Stage right bows first then stage left, followed by middle performers.
- Clap for (middle) performers
- Clap for audience participating too!
- Can't go wrong if you just remember to follow leader. :)
What will increase my chance to be selected?
- Positive energy–enthusiasm, smiles, wave arms
- Placement in crowd–toward the front, near aisle/walkway, near stage entrance
- Safety–wear secure shoes (not sandals or heels), avoid wearing anything that could be dropped or become a tripping hazard (no purse/bag, no loose long jewelry, no untied scarves)
The volunteers will receive 2 free Dance Therapy classes ($50 value). May not be combined with other promotions.

Our DC Fam promotion allows you to take 3 classes for $30 CASH paid at 1st class, exact change appreciated ($75 value). $35 if paying by check.
To qualify, email us! State that you're a DC Dance Family and provide:
- First/last name (must be 18+ years old)
- Favorite type of dance music, ie, pop, R&B, hip hop, Latin, Broadway, lyrical, etc.
- Dance experience (none required)
- Name of DC Student in your family
The DC Fam Promotion classes begin in June and expire 9/30/25. New students only. Summer schedule applies (vacation breaks tbd). Limit 1 DC Fam promotion per family.
Emails must be received by 6/7/25 (Cherry Fest day). May not be combined with other promotions. We will send our overview and waiver after 6/7/25. Dance on!!
